COVID UPDATE 9-1-2021

North Bend School District

SEP 01, 2021

Dear Staff and Families of North Bend School District,

Tuesday, we were notified that a North Bend High School soccer player tested positive for COVID-19.  Coos Health & Wellness was immediately contacted and they are reaching out to the students and staff who were potential close contacts of the athlete.  Those contacts will be required to quarantine unless they meet one of the following criteria:

  1. They have been fully vaccinated (recommended number of doses of specific vaccine plus two weeks).
  2. They did not have contact with the athlete on August 28th, 29th or 30th .

If team members and staff are fully vaccinated and show no symptoms, they are not required to quarantine and may return to both practice and school.

As you can see, having even one infected athlete is going to have a huge impact on teams this year.  Being fully vaccinated may lessen the chance that students will become seriously ill with COVID, or require hospitalization.  Currently, unvaccinated individuals have to quarantine.

Please know that our number one concern is your child’s safety. Thank you for your ongoing work to follow our mask and physical distancing requirements. Students and staff at all levels have done an amazing job at following these guidelines and we are grateful for your efforts. Keep it up! Together we will get through this.

If you have further questions, please contact your school office or you can reach me at kbogatin@nbend.k12.or.us.

Sincerely,

Kevin Bogatin
Superintendent
