North Bend High School received a call from the Safe Oregon Tip Line (844-472-3367) at approximately 7:30 this morning alleging that a student had a handgun in their backpack.  The allegation did not include a threat or claim of intent to use the handgun but we take these tips very seriously.

We immediately had access to North Bend Police through our on-site Safety Resource Officer and additional police support was called for.  High School staff were notified, administrators were posted at entries and the situation was handled within minutes of the initial tip, off campus and before school began.  While no weapon or threat was found, we are thankful for the tip and the quick response from everyone involved.
