NORTH BEND SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCES NORTH BAY ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL

The North Bend School District is pleased to announce Darrell Johnston as the new principal of North Bay Elementary School.  Darrell joined the district in 2016 and served as the Middle School principal for two years.  In 2018, Darrell accepted a position at North Bend High School where he has successfully led the school for the last five years. 

Darrell has been an integral part of the district leadership team during his tenure in the district, and has successfully led many academic program improvement initiatives, the creation of the Bridges Alternative School, expanded CTE programs, and led the recovery efforts of the High School as a result of the covid pandemic. 

Darrell’s interest in elementary education is not new.  Darrell has experience leading elementary schools in Alaska and Washington.  When the opening at North Bay Elementary first surfaced, Darrell recognized that his experience could be pivotal in the continued success of the school and district and quickly expressed interest in the position.  While serving as an elementary principal in Tacoma, WA, Darrell strengthened structures for teachers to collaboratively examine student data and plan instruction based on students’ needs, and initiated Positive Behavior Intervention Systems in his school.   North Bend School District is fortunate to have such a talented leader ready to serve the needs of our schools at all levels.  Please join us in congratulating Darrell on his move to North Bay Elementary.
